hello I must be going

Now we're tourists again, our minds have been concentrated wonderfully to doing the things we want to do before we leave.

One thing was to visit Mai Handicrafts, one of only a couple of not-for-profit craft organisations that I've been able to find in HCMC. If you are ever in HCMC, I recommend a visit - it's about a $3 to $4 taxi ride from district 3, but the products they have (textiles, ceramics) are lovely, and extremely reasonably priced.

Tonight we had drinks at the rooftop bar of The Rex Hotel. The hotel is a famous historic site as the spot where journalists were given briefings about the American/Vietnam War - and these days it has a 2 for 1 happy hour from 5.30pm. A great location to view HCMC district 1 from above. We had the added bonus of a brewing storm (which never eventuated).

We finished off the night with dinner across the road at one of our favourite restaurants - Loc Thanh. One of our security guys (from our building) came to help me cross the road to get home ... how embarrassing.
