First stop was The Deck, a riverside restaurant. I had a cappuccino and finally realised why they never taste quite the same as at home, even though they look convincing: robusta, not arabica beans. Still very enjoyable.
The location is quite lovely, even though the river has some pollution problems. Hopefully we'll get back sometime to see what it's like in the evenings. The menu (both food and cocktail) looked good, although more expensive than what we've been enjoying so far.
We walked from The Deck to the main street of An Phu, to the Mekong Merchant Cafe. It felt a bit strange to be in a cafe full of white people... Again, the outlay was more than we usually spend for lunch (about $17) but I had a lovely chicken salad and M had an ostrich burger with fries! M was joking it was almost like being with the ladies who lunch at Camp Hill. Hehehe. I had a great juice (always seem to be done so expertly in Vietnam) - watermelon and ginger.
This afternoon I had another interview, and think I will be doing a demo lesson next week. I really enjoyed my interview, and was asked many intelligent questions about my teaching philosophies rather than how much experience I had. I had my interview in district 3 but unfortunately this organisation's main campus is much further out. My interviewer thought that I should be ok to get a motorbike because I was slim (hehehe). Presumably that makes it easier to squeeze through the traffic.
