Safely arrived in
Penang, after a day’s travel. Just as well we had three hours to get from one
side of LCCT to the other - that’s
how long it took us. But apart from the chaos at the luggage carousel and taxi
rank in Penang, it was all relatively easy going, if slow.
I went to check out
the pool after we arrived at our hotel, and was curious that there seemed to be
a lot of young men swimming for a Thursday afternoon in your average 3.5 star
hotel. Then, on coming back from dinner tonight, noticed the various banners
hung around the lobby – it’s the under 19s Asian Cricket Challenge. Hmm, it's going to busy at the breakfast buffet in the mornings...
Had a wonderful dinner
at a local celebrated Nonya restaurant close by.
My favourite was the dessert,
chambol (sp?) which was little blobs of green jelly in coconut milk and (?)
served with ice – delicious.
Along with the Cricket
Challenge, the Georgetown Arts festival is also on, starting tomorrow. Haven’t
read the programme yet but it looks like there are plenty of interesting things
on.
