Happy winter solstice!

Winter in the capital - 11 degrees today. We did get out for a bit of exercise at Mulligan's Flat at Gungahlin - experiencing Little Mulligans Flat (north of Mulligans Flat Road) for the first time - which featured a steep hill climb, good views of Canberra and a decent mob of kangaroos.

Look and don't leap

On the last day of our Sydney trip we took a ferry ride out to Watson's Bay. From the top of the cliffs there are excellent views, both out to sea and back towards Sydney. The path along the cliff tops has numerous Lifeline and Beyond Blue ads because this is The Gap - infamous as a suicide spot. While we were there everyone we saw around looked happy enough, which was good.

Nothingness

On my way to a day of Sydney Writers Festival I came across this street art at the top of the Windmill Steps at Walsh Bay - at first I thought it was a piece of rubbish. On closer inspection i thought it was quite sad.

Sydney treats

On a recent trip to Sydney we checked out some of the highlights (geddit?) of the Vivid festival. Rain curtailed us partaking of the full walking tour - but the Customs House lights, activated by a dance floor at the front of the building courtyard in ways I don't quite yet understand, was worth getting wet for.

The Opera House illuminations were likewise very speccy. Blackpool eat your heart out!
