A fab link

One for the twitchers - or anyone interested in the sounds of nature.

The middle of the long

A lovely night in the National Capital - last night's event managers must have been so annoyed!

The rain yesterday has been great for the garden.

Australia Day storm in Canberra

We were going to have a bbq tonight - until the storm blew in. I do feel sorry for all those who were at Regatta Point waiting for the fireworks...

Meat in Canberra

Enjoying the delights of being back home. We visited the EPIC farmers market this morning so M could pick up some decent beef from Gilmore Braes. They keep heritage cattle (with the big horns) and each market sell the meat from just one beast. http://www.capitalregionfarmersmarket.com.au/stall/gilmorebraes.html

Apparently fab.

Something for the vegetarians

Oh, those New Yorkers!

This amuses me greatly - Saturday 12 January is officially 'No Pants Day' in NY - hee hee hee!

More birds

Yesterday a small bird smacked into our window. It was a bit stunned, but seemed unharmed. M set in down and gave it some space to recuperate. It was breathing hard but after a while it recovered enough to fly off. We think it was a reed warbler.

Rubber duckie, you're the one

Oh so sad as our wonderful Christmas and New Year break is soon to come to an end. It was fantastic to end the holiday with a decent spectacle - the arrival of a large rubber duck into Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. The artist responsible says "It relieves everyday tensions, as well as defining them. Its purpose is to do no more than amaze." Hurray for art!

There was a huge crowd to enjoy (and photograph) the sight - as the duck swung around to face us, an older lady behind me said "that's the money shot." True!
